When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation with someone you just met?

For this year’s BLINK, I’ve been leading a collaborative project called Welcome In. It is a light-based installation about dialogue, community, intimacy, and the simple act of making room for one another.

As Gallery Director and Project Lead, I’ve had the pleasure of developing the project alongside Ian McIlvain and Libby Albus, XU ’26, and a group of current Xavier University Art Department students.

Together, we’re thinking about what happens when we create a physical space for people to slow down, sit together, and actually talk. The work takes the form of a dining room and doorway, but the real material is conversation.

The questions are simple. The invitation is simple.
